Jobs With Popcorn

I needed some additional income so I decided to get a job this summer. Even though I scoured the papers and the Internet, I couldn’t find anything suitable to do. When my search seemed hopeless I decided to ask my Uncle Billy for some assistance. Uncle Bill said “if their aren’t any jobs to be had, then make some”. This didn’t seem helpful at all and actually made me mad at first. I told him that if he wasn’t going to help then he should just keep his mouth shut. He explained that I could start a business and therefore create my own job for myself. Bill further explained that I may even get large enough to hire somebody and create yet another job.

I thought this was a great idea, but didn’t really know where to start. Uncle Bill and I started brainstorming and we came up with the idea of using his popcorn machines to start a business. His three large popcorn poppers would be great for my business. These popcorn makers were purchased for his house, but he said I could use them as long as I didn’t break them.

I started off by setting up my popcorn machine in the community pool’s parking lot. I earned so much money that I was able to buy some popcorn poppers for myself. My thoughts were that having my own makers would ensure that I could operate even if my uncle needed his back. I received so much business that I needed to hire some workers.

Instead of conducting interviews I decided that I would ask some of my friends if they needed work. I called Sam and asked him if he would like to work for me. At first Sam was hesitant because he didn’t think I really had enough money to pay him. I invited him down to the pool to have a look at my business and he was very impressed. He asked questions like, “where did you get your machines”, and how “do you run them”.

Sam came to my house and I showed him http://www.popcornplaza.com and the operating instructions. I then showed him the machines operation and asked him if he wanted to work with me. He told me he would think about it and I didn’t hear from him again.

Last week I saw Sam in the parking lot of another community pool with some popcorn machines. I guess he decided to go to work for himself instead.
